Digital Storytelling Session with School Students
The digital storytelling session with the school students was originally slated for the 5th of July 2022. However, it was rescheduled as we wanted to ensure better quality of the storytelling videos that we have curated for the students.
Following the consensus of the rescheduled date, the digital session was held on the 13th of July 2022, joined by over a hundred Year 5 and 6 students from SK Asli Bukit Cheding, SK Runchang, SK Kubang Kerian 3, SJK (T) Mukim Pudu and SJK (C) Keat Hwa. All of the participants joined the digital storytelling session remotely from their respective schools.
The first half of the session was moderated by Anissa Binti Abdul Kadir and Sahira Rosly, who warmly welcomed the students and briefly introduced them to the Orang Asli sub-groups and communities here in Malaysia. The role of moderator was then passed on to Irene Peter in the second half of the session, where she elaborated more on the stories and inquired feedback from the students from each school respectively. The storytelling videos, which are "Seri" and "The Kelayek Den", were played to the students, followed by activities and quizzes that tests the students' vocabulary and comprehension.
As the session was coming to an end, we invited several teachers from the schools to give their comments and feedback on the stories that we have curated and the overall session that has been conducted.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the teachers from SK Asli Bukit Cheding, SK Runchang, SK Kubang Kerian 3, SJK (T) Mukim Pudu, and SJK (C) Keat Hwa for their assistance in gathering the students to participate in our storytelling session. We would also like to express our thanks to all the participants who took part in our session and hope that they enjoyed the stories and activities that we have carried out.
